NEWS - Winter 2011
HBLearning has been updated to reflect all the recent Housing Benefit legislation changes.
The course material has been updated to include:
• the extension of the definition of a ’young individual’ to include single people aged up to their 35th birthday instead of their 25th birthday.
• the two new exemptions to the shared accommodation rate and the single room rent for people aged between 25 and 34 who have either been housed in specialist homeless hostels for at least three months, or who are violent ex-offenders subject to MAPPA.
• an explanation of the 16-19 Bursary Fund for the most vulnerable students which replaced Education Maintenance Allowance from September 2011, including how to treat payments received from the fund.
• revised student course material for the 2011/2012 academic year, using new types and current rates of student income.
• the fact that a full disregard applies to Caxton Foundation payments made to people who have contracted the Hepatitus C virus as a result of NHS treatment.
In addition to the above, the PFA quizzes have now been fully updated and reactivated.
